Research Focus
My research primarily explores sustainability, environmental law, corporate governance, and industrial efficiency. With a background in law, management, and engineering, I examine the intersection of regulatory frameworks, business operations, and sustainable industrial practices. My work focuses on challenges in manufacturing, mining, and infrastructure, with an emphasis on developing strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and ensure long-term sustainability.
PhD Research: Sustainability, Environmental Law & Rules-Based Systems
As part of my PhD at Imperial College London, I explored the effectiveness of rules-based systems in sustainability and environmental governance, with a focus on how legal frameworks drive corporate environmental compliance. Key aspects of my research included:
• The role of corporate environmental disclosure laws and their impact on governance and sustainability.
• The legal obligations of businesses under international environmental conventions, particularly in the cement, gypsum, and mining sectors.
• The Aarhus Convention and its implications for corporate transparency and environmental accountability.
This research contributed to a deeper understanding of how regulatory structures influence corporate sustainability strategies and has been published in peer-reviewed environmental law and sustainability journals.
MSc Research: Mergers and Acquisitions in Iran’s Cement Industry
During my MSc in Management at Imperial College Business School, my research focused on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Iran’s cement industry, evaluating their economic feasibility, strategic impact, and the role of political and legal factors. My dissertation, titled: “Are Mergers and Acquisitions Advisable in Iran’s Cement Industry?” analysed:
• The effects of M&A on profitability, efficiency, and market share in the cement sector.
• The impact of Iran’s economic and political landscape on investment decisions.
• How M&A strategies in Iran’s cement industry compare with global trends in corporate consolidation.
• The long-term potential of M&A for industry expansion and competitiveness, despite political instabilities.
My findings concluded that, despite regulatory and political challenges, M&A in Iran’s cement industry could yield similar benefits to those observed in global markets by enhancing profitability, efficiency, and corporate growth.
